World Breastfeeding Week 2018

World Breastfeeding Week 2018

Breastfeeding Week 2018 October 1 – 7

Theme: BREASTFEEDING: Foundation of Life

The BC Baby-Friendly Network (BCBFN) is excited to share information about this year’s World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) resources.  The BCBFN serves as a collective body of expertise and wisdom comprised of health care providers, ministry, health authority representatives and consumers with the aim of contributing to the advancement of breastfeeding and the Baby-Friendly Initiative (BFI) across the province of B.C.  This year through our WBW Working group, in partnership with provincial partners, developed a universal decal and accompanying tip sheet.

By using these resources, you can be a champion in helping to create a breastfeeding friendly community! Breastfeeding promotes the optimal health of children and women, is environmentally friendly, and also supports BC’s provincial health priorities and aligns with this year’s WBW – “Breastfeeding: Foundation for Life” — a recognition of the importance of breastfeeding to a child’s future.

2018 WBW resources include:

  • Tip sheet – Information for businesses/community organizations and volunteers on how to support breastfeeding families.
  • Universal window decals for businesses/community organizations to prominently display to show that they are a “Breastfeeding Friendly Place.”

The BCBFN is pleased that the initial distribution of these materials can be offered free of charge to BC Health Authorities. Anyone wishing to print additional copies of either resource is free to do so at their own cost.
