About Us

300The BC Baby-Friendly Network was initiated in October 1992 following the “Registered Nurses of BC (RNABC) Panel on Breastfeeding” where it was recommended that a diverse membership of health care professionals form a network to advance breastfeeding in the Province. The original meeting of four professionals has expanded to become a multidisciplinary committee that includes health care providers from each of the Provincial Health Regions, Ministry representatives, professional and educational organizations, agencies and consumers.

Independent in its mission, goals, and finances, the Network has been provided with in-kind support, particularly with assistance in communication among members, by the RNABC, the Health Association of BC and currently by the Perinatal Services of BC (PSBC).
